Senior Caregiver Job Application

Senior caregivers may work part-time or full-time and enjoy flexibility with weekday or weekend schedules.  This is because some seniors require care every day of the week.  Professional senior care companies will also hire back-up caregivers in order to be able to effectively staff new clients as many times they will need care on short notice.  Seniors who decide to leave the hospital and go onto hospice care services will often need a caregiving service to begin right away.  In addition, seniors who suddenly find out they are not approved for more days of Medicare-reimbursed care in a nursing home will opt to go home and privately pay for a senior home care agency to provide professional care services.

Becoming a Senior Caregiver

Professional caregivers assist with companion care and nursing aide care for seniors.  Companion care means keeping the daily schedule of events on track, such as meals and medications and being there to help with any ordinary daily tasks.  Many times seniors with memory loss or who are grieving from losing  a loved one just need someone to talk with and to be there to help with meals, light housekeeping and errands. Nursing aide care involves more hands-on assistance such as help with bathing, toileting and dressing.  Some seniors will require assistance from a certified nursing aide who is trained to assist with everything from feeding tubes to monitoring special diets and assisting with personal care needs
